ooh dear- mine idles at 2000rpm- obviously too high....

may this be the cause of the high fuel consumpiton? Im still getting less than 200 miles to a tank.

Aye mate, miles too high is that and explains a lot if you are using a lot of fuel, you should be getting 300 miles and over for a full tank. On my rev counter there are two white markers, one above 1000 rpm mark and another below it, I guess they represent about 800 - 1200 rpm and the idle should be between these marks.

I had idle problems last year when it was sounding a bit rough and idling up and down about 800 rpm, the garage sorted it for me and they said that the mixture was running too rich, could be something for you to look at.  :)
......now officially dubless.

I don't know matey, the garage I took it to sorted it out for me but the idle time was really bumpy and running about 800 rpm. Rich or mk1 will probably be able to answer that question though.

The mixture is adjustable on a k jet, you will need a 5mm long allen key and the adjuster is on the housing between the metering unit and the rubber air pipe to the inlet manifold. There is a hole, fit your allen key down and locate it in the screw, adjustment is out for leaner and in for richer. Remove the key after each adjustment as the weight of it will alter the mixture. You should use a gas analyser to set it up, with practise you can get it close.
