clifford alarms are quite good just look for thatcham category 1 approval and se what fits your budget.

What gti you got cos it varied from year to year for the electric windows, e.g. 8v not standard but some have them factory fitted as special editions, i think all 16v were standard apart form really early ones but im not entirely sure, late ones should have them, (g,h,j,k plates)

welcome by the way

Hi Anna
I think I'm right in saying that the 8v only had electric windows as standard on the run-out model i.e. 1992 any car made before that (like the one you are looking at) would only have them if they were fitted as an optional extra. The 16v had them as standard from 1987 however I have seen a few without them fitted (I guess the original purchaser may have had something against them and specified not to have them fitted).

Cheers
Toby

there was a year around 1990 when VAG dropped e/w windows in the 16v's to being an optional extra, though it was brought back as std equitment the following year!

should be easy enough to wire up electric windows though, u just need, 2 switches, the motors and the loom

keep an eye out on the forums for people breaking golfs/jetta's and ask them

I have a mk2 8v h reg. No electric windows - really easy to fit though!! Have them now was thinking bout putting them in the mk1 but I think I'll leave that standard.

I have a cobra cat 1 in my mk2 cost a bit and it don't go beep so I'm not happy  :D
