Another 'strange noise' question...
« on: 31 March 2004, 09:02 »
99 1.8T stock.....

Have a noise... like a wheezy up and down noise, increases speed with the engine, thinking perhaps a leaky something or other, think it is coming from the drivers side of the engine, could it be a slpit hose or something more serious... very worried  :( please advise!!!

To explain the problem more consisely....

Not noticed any decrease in engine power, is there always, from start, even without moving but when I move the noise gets faster...!!!

yes indeed, or it might be a slippery whatnot !

Sorry couldn't resist  ;D Check all hoses for proper connections/splits or cracks, could it possibly be the sound of a belt slipping ?

no squeeling, quite sure not a belt slip problem... almost sounds like a hunting problem without the hunting, does that make sense?  definately air leaking from something... should have added that to the original post.... air leaking which gets faster as the engine speed increases... please help!!
