Ignition codes mean....?
« on: 23 January 2004, 09:09 »
Hi everyone,

when I put the key in the ignition and turn the ignition on the code "IN 01" usually flashes on the dashboard. I've been having problems with my revs dropping, and I've just noticed this morning that now the code "IN 02" flashes up instead. Can anybody tell me what these codes mean and is the new "IN 02" code significant to my problem? Thanks for your help.

They are service codes .

OIL    -  Oil Change Required
IN01  -  Service Required (Standard Service)
IN02  -  Service Required With Additional Operations (Big Service)

They are listed in the owners handbook . These operations may actually not need doing , after the last service the IN01 may not have been reset. The handbook also states how to reset these .

Look at these indications like those in the BMW

Oh cool, thanks ADYH.

It had a full service last Saturday so I guess the dropping revs problem is the reason for the escalation to IN02. I'm getting the engine diagnostics checked tomorrow so I'll see what error codes that throws out.  :o

Probably not , they probably didnt bother to reset the indication (happens all the time ) .

Revs dropping is proberbly dirty throttle body. Gets clogged up with crap after a few ten thousand miles!

Get it cleaned every 50,000 makes an unbelievable difference!  ;D
