So is this something that would be a massive undertaking for a garage to check for you? I am thinking of dropping mine in for a check before the warranty expires but i figure unless there is a problem they are unlikely to want to get involved in taking the engine apart, what do you think?

It's easy to check (the newer 07 cars more so than the pre 07 ones) but the unfortunately the VW garages won't do it unless there is a fault.
Without traction power is nothing!

....At the risk of sounding like a cracked record, my VW dealer is happy to check it when I ask.
