Hi all,

Just trying to guage some interest out there. I'm considering setting up an operation to buy, for example, used Golf MKII's and fully rebuilding them and selling them as "virtually new" cars. Obviously, they will not be brand new as per its definition, but they may as well be from the work carried out as below.

By rebuilding, I mean stripping them bare of ALL parts giving them complete and full overhauls - Along the lines of working from the chassis up and replacing all parts with brand new parts. For example:

Exterior: new doors, wings, bonnet, boot etc, new glass, new rubber seals, new handles, locks,  painted in the colour of your choice, etc.
Interior: new seats, belts, dash, carpets, mats, switches, gauges etc.
Engine: new engine, all new engines parts (pipes, alternators, radiators etc etc), new suspension, brakes, wheels, tyres, running gear etc.
New Additions: to bring the car into the 21st century - Power-steering, ABS, Aircon, Deadlocks, Fully electric, Full Warranties etc.

Using the prior example, you could purchase, in effect, a "brand new" VW Golf MKii. This would be offered with a choice of engines, colours, trims etc as
you would have if ordering a new car from a main dealer. Think of a brand new car rolling down a production line and popping out at the other side, this would be the same process with a "brand new" MKII popping out at the end.......

For example, one could place a customer specific order for a VW Golf MKII GTi 8v in Oak Green with Rainbow Interior, Power-Steering, Electric Sunroof and Aircon. and it would be built within a defined lead time. (Remember, this will roll off with the new smell and tight handling of a brand new car)

Why- Have you ever spent forever and a day searching for that perfect original, fully documented, well-cared for car and discounted 95% of what you looked at? You could eliminate the search by specifying your precise requirement and have it built for you and have piece of mind with the backing of a full warranty.

Various products and offers would be rolled out over time once the process is perfected (eg Golf MKI, II, Passat etc). This is obviously not a product for struggling students or the like, but for a niche enthusiast who expects quality and reliability.

My question - is there demand out there, and what would you expect to pay for such a vehicle in the above example?

Thanks for considering it!
