fuel filter- 1.6 driver
« on: 09 November 2008, 08:46 »
hi
i put a new fuel filter about a year ago, and i just noticed i was apparentley given a wrong one- i checked by the cat number and it belongs mainly to older cars, mk1 etc.
it looks like a cone, and the correct one looks according to etka more like a barrel. so does it make a difference?

If it's been running a year with no probs I'd say it's OK. When you replaced the old one didn't you notice the different shape then?

i didn't notice if it was the same as the old one, however there is a problem with the car:
driving in constant revs sometimes makes it jump, and when leaving the gas and pressing again it also jumps, and when fully depressing the pedal it shivers for a second. don't know what to do already. the carb has been overhauled.

Might as well replace the fuel filter, it's about 60p or sommat cheap @ GSF with "Club Members" discount. I've still got the filter I was going to put on when I serviced my car. It's a barrel shape with two pipe connectors on either end, see-through with an orange/brown filter inside.
