Race Petrol Tank

Hi i am looking at making my own petrol tank to put in the back , how many litres do you think it should be ?

how many miles range do you want? how many do you get from the current tank? whats the capacity of your current tank? work it out from this

fuel cells are a pain in the arse.   i much prefer haveing the tank outside asa do most people unless you have to have a cell. reason why is dislike them is if inside the car is. A if you spill petrol when filling up it stinks in the car, B  rather a lot of petrol in the car with me. 

stock tank is 55ltrs on one said it had to be brim full. on the road that chould  give me upto 450 miles.  on the track 75 - 100  so if much smaller would be a pain
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

It depends on the length of races really, if you doing 10 lappers a 20-25 litre tank will suffice.

Makes it much safer if you only have to carry 20 litres of fuel, rather than having to fill the standard tank to avoid surge at the end of the race.
