16v magnex system
« on: 08 October 2008, 17:19 »
hey guys,

anybody fitted a 16v magnex full stainless exhaust system, with standard looking twin exit back box?

got a second hand full system including manifold off ebay for a bargain.

manifold and centre section fit perfectly no problem, but fitting the back box was a nightmare. the rear hanging position is in completely the wrong place, and seems to want to hang sideways and way foreward, so much so that the tailpipes stick out from the bumper a good 6inches.

all the pipes but up perfectly, and the system feels really solid, its just either too long back box, or my car is 6" shorter than standard

anyone else found this?

i had same problem mate, had to make a new exhaust hanger bracket that bolts in place of the original item, i think magnex used to provide them in the fitting kit when you bought a system from them, but i think they have gone bust now so you can't buy them anymore.  my tail pipes stick out more than the original ones but no further than the bumper if you know what i mean.....are you sure that you have pushed the silencer on to the intermediate pipe as far as possible ??

I had that problem too after buying a brand new system & manifold, it stuck out, kept twisting, banging on the underneath & breaking rubber mounts
I've just made a new silencer hanger & welded it up in the right place & fitted heavy duty rubber exhaust mounts with chains in from C&R Enterprises at £7.95 each..
The garage that fitted it didn't do a good job as everything wasn't pushed together enough..
Now it looks straight & 'aint goin' nowhere.. As the No.1 rule goes, if you want it done well then do it yerself!
Never hold your farts in.. They travel up your spine and into your brain and that\'s where sh!tty ideas come from!
