Quick question car using lots of fuel.
« on: 07 October 2008, 09:40 »
Hi all i am currently searching this great forum and coime across some good topics but i am unsure on a few things.

i went out in my car last night and just took it steady that with out booting it atall, my MPG reading was 13.8 and didnt go over 14 MPG all night.

Another things i have noticed is when i have parked up and leave the car running there is white smoke which comes out and u can slightly smell petrol fumes.

when it was at the MOT centre only last week i asked him to check the emmisions and co2 as i was there next to him and the pertol mixture was 2.52 and he said that is perfectly fine is it?

I have read the tut in the maintenence section and understand that i have to get a new blue temp sensor does anyone have the produck number as i havent got ekta. Now in the part where it says take the spark plug out to the air intake side of the flying saucer it it mean to leave it out when ur trying to start and rev the car to over 3000 rpm when the MFA is in secret mode?

I have already tried adjusting the idle screw and it drops to 850 and the when i slightly turn it back up it goes to 1200ish i carnt get it to go on 900/1000.

i know i should check the isv switch but i am unsure on what switch that is.is it the one with the flat longish spring with a round blue button behind it.

any help would be much appriciated.

forget what the MFA is telling you and do a Proper Fill, drive, and refill calculation

that way you know for sure what MPG you are getting. as the MFA isnt the most reliable  :undecided:
