Drivers Republic - Scirocco vs Golf GTI

I know there's been threads about the new Scirocco before but Drivers Republic have just published a comparison of both cars which is worth a read. There are 3 pages, the page controls are are at the bottom incase you miss them.

Nice to see the laps of Silverstone, both got 2 min 24 sec. Bit gutted I only managed 2.34 last week, I'm sure that was Tiff driving!!

Wow!! thats quite a difference.. 10sec! Perfect example of how Bhp is not the only factor when considering how fast a car is. Driver skill and ability to control the power is key, and those 10sec would probably be alot more if they were driving your car Neil M.

A standard GTI beats a remapped Ed30 by 10 seconds?  And completely holds it's own aginst the new tech scirocco.  Says a lot for good old vanilla GTI's.  Shame they didn't have the standard 17" wheels on, it would have beaten the scirocco by about 2.5 seconds if the EVO tyre test was anthing to go on.

All the people I know who do track days and are involved in motor sport told me to spend some money on professional track driving tuition before spending money on the car, did I f**k, 300hp and no talent!!

To be honest I am a bit slower than a normal driver, being paralysed from the chest down in a bike accident and braking and accelerating with my right hand via hand controls, may be one of the fastest wheelchairs round Silverstone

Neil and Tiff are a bit different, not just because of skills. So 10 seconds is not that much.
