Does it do it under a load, say when you got a load of mates in the car???

If so check your sparkies and HT leads, if there screwed, it normally makes that happen

As  Mixologist has said it could be some nackered spark plugs. This could be true if it has happened after you spend a day thrashing the car. If they looked naff, check back of a hynes manuel, they get some new performance ones with 3 prongs.

Let us know what the problem was in the end

could be vacuum leak at the throttle body, check all air/vacuum lines and gaskets
