STP fuel injector cleaner?
« on: 12 September 2008, 14:50 »
I've just found this in my garage from when I last used it on a 205GTI I had years ago. I've now got a 16v GTI - I'm just trying to use up stuff in the garage before I go and buy anything else.

I bought the GTI a month or so back - it's been regularly serviced and has 98,000 on the clock.

My question is should I use this? Will it help or should I just chuck it in the bin?

Use it will help clean out the engine and also in some cases restore some lost power, similar or same kinda stuff to that boost stuff you can get which also cleans out the engine.

I have used it.

Dunno if this stuff can "go off" if it's plenty years old I'd be tempted not to personally as SuperSaiyan4 says it can help clean an engine though will need regular use to be effective.

I would run the car on Shell V-Power or Tesco Super Unleaded - cleans the engine and with the higher octane level it gives a bit more performance too albeit small.

When you say you last used it on your other car years ago you must mean you got a new bottle that you found right? Cos usually your supposed to put the whole lot in if its the regular one for one straight use or I think you can get the bigger ones too enough for 2 lots - and you have to mix it with a certain amount of fuel as well.

And as said above use super unleaded with it.

I've had it for around 5 years (I had a brand new mini cooper in that time so didn't use it). It's a 1 litre container which says on the side is for 4 treatments. I only used it once on the last car so there's 3 lots remaining.
