disks and pads

Do you have to replace the pads if you change the disks? Just had the car in the garage for new rear disks and pads but he said the pads were still in good codition so didn't need to change them..... I always thought you had to change both.....

Yes... Always change pads if you change the disks,  for a start pads are made with a bedding surface to help bed the new disks,  I mean it would probably be ok if you didnt but its very much the done thing to do pads with disks,  If i was to let a car drive out of the garage without new pads on the new disks i would loose my job....

You can however change the pads without changing the disks.
