Please help. Sat nav in mk2 golf. Is there a speedo signal?

Hi thereI have a mk2 16v 90 spec golf. Im trying to install an old clarion sat nav and there is a wire that needs a pulse to tell the unit its moving. In my old saxo it was connected to a speed pulse sender in on the gearbox. Is there something i can hook it up to on my golf. From searching on here it seems that my valver only has mechanical speedo signal, but is there anything from the ecu or dash display i can hook it up to to do the same job. Any help appreciated, ill get some pics up and introduce myself properly soon. In the middle of fitting my 'rado interior and G60 arches.

my car used to have onen of these fitted.      it had to all intentes and porposes an ABS sensor mounted on the frount NS hub  that provided the signal, the setup on mine was an aftermarket kit but you should just be able to get a vw ABS sensor and assosiated bracketry and then tap a sensor ring onto the driveshaft

I'm not being sarcastic mate but why dont you just get a TomTom ! Their cheap enough and you wont have to do any fitting or modding to your car.

Yeah, i have thought of that. And i know they're good. But my mine has a 7" separate screen which will fit nicely into the ashtray/holder space and look clean, it also clocks 0-60 and quater mile times any time you do a good one without asking. Plus I already have a sony head unit which displays a real time video image from my bumper cam, and it would be cool to have this on a bigger screen. It was a very expensive unit when it first came out in the 1850's.

yes there is, pull out your stereo and locate the white/yellow wire.  this is a speed pulse taken from the rear of the speedo
