Outer CV's on 16v's
« on: 07 May 2004, 14:12 »
when you get a new CV joint, it comes with the dished washer and a spacer

haynes says fit the spacer if applicable

how do u know if its applicable??

easy way would be to say if there was no spacer on the old one then you dont need it - but there was no dished washer on mine either which is nessecary - so now i dont know if i need it or not!!

Cheers,
Craig

Hi Craig.
All the cv joints I have had apart have used the dished washer and the spacer. Is this the triangle shaped spacer ring thing?.
Steve.

yes mate thats it

in the end we just put the dished washer in and left the spacer out - doesnt seem to be causing any probs

it was just haynes and their "if applicable" statment got me thinking

Cheers,
Craig
