Rear light question
« on: 02 September 2008, 12:09 »
Hi, I replaced my rear passenger side brake light on the weekend and noticed there wasn't a bulb where the fog light bulb should be. I havent changed a bulb since buying the car and have never used me fogs so I can only guess that the car was bought without it, unless it was stolen by the bulb fairys! There is a bulb on the driver side however. I assumed there should have been a bulb in the socket on the passenger side for the fog so I put a new one in. The problem was that even with a new bulb the light didn't work. I then began to wonder if a buld was supposed to be there at all!? As I bought it with a years MOT and no bulb in the socket it seems.

Does anyone have information on this and/or what the problem may be that is causing the light not to work? All the other bulb sockets in the rear passenger side cluster work - just not the fog it appears..

Sowwwnd, cheers mate, been a great help over the past couple of days.

Why do they only have it on the drivers side then? Is that the same for all cars?

not sure why mate - my MKII was like that; all VW's seem to have just the one fog light whilst some other manufacturers have 2  :undecided:

the law only requires one light to be fitted, so away to save money, as you've found the holder is there and odds are its wired up, if not there are loads of guide on how to enable the other side, giving you 2 rear fogs, personally i wouldn't bother as the amount of time you can legally use you fogs in this country is very minimal
