I had them in leather on my old MkV R32. They were the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in and really did their job in the corners, much more so than the standard items in my current Edition 30 (although don't get me wrong, I think the regular GTI seat design is great).
Following the R, I had a B7 RS4 for a year and even the buckets in that were no match for the VW seats. Naturally, it all depends on your body shape, but I'm 6.2 with a big rear end and the RS4 buckets almost made me pinch a loaf every time I dropped into them.
If the VW Recaros were available (if you know otherwise, please don't tell me) in Edition 30 trim I'd have had them in an instant.
Hello, by the way. Another Tyresmoke defector (not that I posted much there anyway). 
I have them in my B7 RS4, they look exactly the same seats shapewise only in cloth and with the shiny backs.Youre right though sooooo comfortable, they should have been standard in the GTI with a no cost option for the normal GTI seats!!! STINGY VW.
