Thanks to everyone that contributed to lots of previous threads about problems with gearboxes, and selecting 5th!
It was whilst looking though a thread from waaaay back in 2006, that someone mentioned a nut on top of the gearbox, that threads through a small plate, that commonly comes loose, meaning problems with gear selection, especially 5th.
Well, I wandered out to the car to check, not with much hope i hasten to add, as I don't usually have that kind of luck, to find the nut was very loose!!! I tightened said nut, and f**k me...it worked!!! It's like I have a new gearbox!
