Hi there ive recently managed to get hold of a well looked after 89 G reg 16v mk 2 (my forth mk2) that gets really hot the minute i get stuck in traffic. She doesnt leak or lose any fluid, the fan works as it should (comes on at about 3/4 mark on temp guage) but she just always seems to be too hot. Ive just put a new thermostat on and ive flushed the system and radiator a couple of times. Could it be that the water pump isnt working as well as it should? what is the normal running oil temp of a standard 16er? any ideas gratefully received. Cheers, Norm.
