Admiral + Mods
« on: 16 May 2008, 11:56 »
Rang up admiral yesterday to get a quote on a few mods that i want to add to my policy.
I listed:
BMC induction kit
Forge DV valve
Coilovers (none specific)

The only thing that they'd insure was the BMC for an extra 90 quid.
I can understand why they wouldn't insure the Coilovers but not entirely sure why they would insure the DV.
They just said both were high risk mods.
Is there any reason, that anyone know of, why they wouldnt insure the DV?
As far as i know it doesn't increase power just improves power delivery and responsiveness.
Even the induction kit add-on seems a bit steep!
Also would they be more likely to insure just springs instead of coilovers,
Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks,
Jim

They won't insure it because they don't know what it is. If you want mods move elsewhere.. I was with them for 6 years and they wanted £25 everytime i made a change and £90 to swap factory standard alloys for steel wheels

If you were with HIC, to add all of that to your policy would cost you £25 admin charge... They allow up to a 15BHP increase (which that won't give you), or something like £1500(IIRC) of cosmetic mods (coilovers count as cosmetic) before it affects your premium....  So yes, Switch insurers!
Sold the VR6... Now officially An Old Man With A Passat Estate.  At least it's a 1.8T
