no its real easy, just bolts round the edge, you will be able to do it by only removing a few of the bolts, enough to get your mits in, but its worth getting all the muck from behind them while your at it!!!, i had a pile about 12" square from each arch hahaha amazingly no rust what so ever

i see alot of golfs with lots of rust, beware!!!! usually the later mk 3's too which is odd as they were supposidly galvernised...not very well it seems...i just think they used less underseal to save on costs...im lucky anyhow as my early car is rust free
my ford too sufford bad but did cover 255k miles
