Big Bumper question.
« on: 04 April 2008, 20:35 »
Just reversed off my ramps after doing my exhaust and whilst my front bumper has always caught, tonight the drivers side came off.

Now I'm not sure what exactly was holding it on in the first place, as the driverside clip was already broken - but before it wasn't so bad.

What I want to ask is - where the big bumpers fit onto the wing, there is a clip on the bumper and clip on the car - I need the one on the bumper. GSF sell 81357 CLIP-FRONT(BUMP.TO WING), which I'm guessing the clip that fits on the body as the bumpers they sell will already have them on - is there anywhere I can get the clip for the bumper, or will a one from a back big bumper fit?  :undecided:

I thought that. It seems they actually detach, but apart from maybe VAG (  :undecided: ) I doubt I'll get them anywhere else.

The clip on the bumper is part of the bumper.

Mine broke but I made a simple yet effective repair:

Buy a length of aluminium angle from B&Q, think it was about 15mmx15mm profile in 2m length (about £3?)

Cut a piece to the same length of the original clip then offer it upto the bumper to see where some of the soild rear structure remains.

Drill holes in appropriate places so that these new bracket can be screwed onto bumper structure (don't forget that you need to leave enough gap for it to slide over the bracket that is fixed to the wing)

Drill pilot hole through new bracket/bumper structrure (to avoid it splitting) then screw into place

It is a simple job - took me longer to remove bumper than it did to make this repair!

Hope this helps!

Thats ones ok on the car. It's the bit that attaches from the bumper I'm after.
