Remote central locking kit.
« on: 22 April 2008, 16:06 »
What you reckon? I found this one which is designed for a mk3 and it plugs straight into the existing wiring.

http://www.vagparts.com/pages/MK3Golf.htm

Its £105.57 when you add all the VAT etc to it and looks like a very easy DIY job.

Do you think its worth it or would it be better to purchase a full alarm system with remote locking.

If so, do you know of any decent alarms with remote locking fitted and how much they would be including the installation?

Yeah put the 100 odd quid towards a proper cat 1 alarm.

It will cost about 250-350 for the alarm and installation depending on where you go and what alarm you get.

Bit of advice get it installed by a pro who knows what hes doing and you wont have any problems with it then.

Some people say ive got a Clifford etc and its been nothing but trouble, ask them who fitted it and they say joe bloggs from so and so

My clifford concept 300 was fitted to the car about 7 years ago, ive owned the car for 2months and ive not had one single problem with it(fitted by a pro), plus its nice having full closure so if you forget to close the windows they close when you arm it

Do it properly mate, you may be thankful you got it if someone trys to steal it, and you will also get a discount on your insurance if its CAT1

golf mk3 gti's are all total closure as far as i know?? if you dont have remote central locking then you just keep the key turned in the lock. if you do have remote central locking then it also works through this facility. its a crap feature anyway, who walks away from their car without putting the windows up?? only some 17 year old flash tosser, showing off outside the local maccy d's to prospective chavy baby producing girls.

i've also seen this item on the net, looks ok. havnt found anyone who's installed one of these but it certainly looks damn easy.

It all depends on money, if you have £350 to spend, then get a cat1 alarm/immob/remote central locking kit properly fitted by a qualified autoelectrician. On the other hand, if you've got £100 to spend then get the one you're looking at. simple.

Of course the third option is to spend as little as £35 on and alarm/immob/remote central locking kit from any one of the endless array of websites and fit it yourself.... just dont be suprised when it goes off in the night.... every night... until your neighbour puts a brick through your window... :embarassed:

Thats what i mean, if you get any kind of alarm make sure the guy is a pro and preferably ask for recommendations on here or something.
