Quick Help question for newbee!

Hi All,

I have just purchased a GTI Golf 8V non turbo 3dr in Black on a 51 plate and picking it up tomorrow.

I am looking to purchase a new set of VW rs6 alloys in 18's to fit to the car tomorrow.

I have seen several Golfs with the rear wheels wide apart, which look awesome and i assume it is just a case of putting in a spacer?

Which size spacers would i need, how many, and how much. The car is not going to be lowered, and it will be sitting on 18" RS6 (real or replica not sure yet).

Want them to look wider and nice, but not cause any rubbing issues etc..

Any help is much appreciated.

at a guess 5mm or 10mm spacers and you will need one per wheel

and i would lower it, unless you like the 4x4 stance; trust me on that!

If i required lowering it, how much is advisable to look nice, with no rubbing,

Is it shocks all round? or Torsion bar at rear..

-30mm will look good 

get shocks and springs all round mate if you want to retain ride quality otherwise go for coilovers

Also, what sort of tuning can i get done to make this a bit quicker, from what i can see there is not as much options as with the turbos and tdi's. Any obvious remap or anything that will make a diffeerence?

Without spending mega money you cant do very much to the 8v lump unfortunately 

You could do air filter exhaust etc to make things a bit better

Emmm AS rhyso says the GTTDIs are very good and can be mapped to give big bhp and torque
