I've been with Privilege for about 7/8 years now and despite all efforts have never been able to find a company to better their price.

Their on-line prices are cheaper than their phone quotes. Privilege and Direct Line are the same company, so if you have a Home Insurance policy with D.L. you get a discount on your Car Insurance.

Insurance seems to have risen anywhere 10 to 20% in the last year.  Just renewed for end of March.  Spent several days getting quote after quote both online and by phone. Exhausted the list I think.

2 Driver policy wife and me (mid 40's).  NO accidents, claims, but I carry 3 points, but for insurance its counted as 6 as it over 5 years for most companies. Where as 3 have dropped off totting up on licence as over 3 years.  Several companies refused to quote on 2 convictions ( both speeding) !!

In the end stayed with LV Frizzell,  £340 for the GTI and £647 for the M3.  Both with legal, and full foriegn use on the M3,  Usual Full comp but no business use except to and from work.  No replacement car as not needed. Sensible excess of £300 GTI and £450 M3.

Some companys quoted upto £1300 just for the M3!

Closest quote to LV was NU surprisingly.

Used More Than 2 years ago, but customer service is appalling, after they get your dosh, Indian call centre, and it just become to painful, paperwork was always wrong.  So been with LV Frizzell for 10 of last 11 years and very good service.

Thanks for all the responses - useful information and looks like very different quotes and experiences.  I've also noticed "renewals" were higher which is why I ended up going to Churchill last year - Bell Direct gave me loyalty discount but still wouldn't match new policy price and at the time churchill had "beat your renewal" going on so tool advantage of that.  Looks like I've got an exciting weekend of trawling round for quotes, if I come across any good deals I will let everyone know incase anyone else is renewing

Just out of interest how are your insurers treating factory options - I had one place try to say they were the same as after market accessories - it's not as though I've been down to Halfrauds and bought a leather interior and fitted it on the driveway, same with Xenons!

I am currently looking into insurance for mine and the Mrs - tried a few so far, Adrian Flux, Greenlight, HIC, Sainsbury's.

Cheapest was Greenlight by £200 under Adrian Flux, funny thing is though the Mrs' insurance on the 25th Anniversary came out the same as the Mk5 GTI.

I’ve been using Liverpool Victoria (LV) for a couple of years... based in Poole. I’ve found them very competitive compared to VW Insurance, I saved over £200 when I changed.

I’ll probably check out Adrian Flux when I renew in August, as I may chip my ED30, and I believe they are modding friendly! I don’t know LV’s stance on modified cars, I guess like most insurers they like to keep it simple.

Good luck... Hotrod

Thumbs up to Greenlight, I know we all hate having to pay insurance but its one of those things you have to do and Greenlight made it as good as it could be.

Decent quote and mod friendly - funny how when I listed my mods Neil guessed the manufacturer each time!
easy to deal with - questions etc
received documents promptly

Job Done, fingers crossed thats it for another year - oh once I have sorted out the wife's car insurance next week
