Best option is ring around breakers yards for a 8V MKIII and just fit it.
The re-route road, all that does is give you rough idle in our climate TBH.
Carb cleaner or petrol should temp fix it but if its knackard, then its knackard?
Check ther eis no break in wires to the ISV just incase its not opening the valve fully.
Don't mess around with the painted yellow screw on the end!
Taken from another thread I wrote.
Take the ISV out and use half a can of carb cleaner on the inlet and outlets until it runs clear.
ISV get stuck all the time depends how much crap get in them. Or check the current whist reving up to 3000rpm three times from idle and check current for 420 +- 30mA also unplug the temp sender it should not affect the current if it fluctates its buggered!
