oil leak from inlet manifold / oil pump question
« on: 28 March 2008, 11:21 »
apparently i have an oil leak from the inlet manifold, which drips onto my exhaust manifold and smells a bit funky after a long drive. my mechanic said this is nothing to worry about, as its only a minor leak.

is this normal? anything to worry about?

also, how much labour is involved in changing the oil pump? after changing the oil yesteday the mechanic said the oil light would not go out, took ages for it to build up pressure (had to resort to loosening the oil filter to relieve the pressure or something). rough cost?

I don't think a semi will give the same results

are you sure oil is not coming from rocker cover
in reality inlet manifold should have fuel and air in it (and fumes from the breather)

mechanic described the oil as dripping back along the inlet manifold, could this therefore be a breather problem? or rocker cover?

also whats involved (i.e. cost wise) of replacing the oil pump?
