Can you help me identify this part?

 Under the dash of my mk2 8v gti. Thinking its part of the central locking maybe an aftermarket kit?? The cental lockings been iffy since we had the car but this little box keeps clicking away so ive had to dissconnect it. Wondering what it is and if I could (or where ) I could purchase a replacement? any help please 

PS it has written on the front PATROL HPS 120

some alarm unit or maybe cetral lockin. wierd on that
