CUT OUT

Hey there , Im having a problem with my 8v . When im accelerating the car cuts out for about a second or two then cuts back in. I think it could be something to do with the ignition because when i turn the car on ive got to turn the key back about 1/8(just before the car turns off) to turn the cd player on, any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated cheers.

not sure what you mean by having to turn the key back? elaborate

The key turns all the way and back a little after the car has started to save the starter motor, but the cd player dosnt come on. So, I have to turn it towards off(just before it cuts the car out) to turn on the cd player.
So im thinking the car could be cutting out because the key is on the verge of turning off the car.
Do you know if it is possible to wire the cd player to power off something else e.g cig lighter rather than the ignition so i dont have to turn the key back, Thats if thats the problem.

The ignition switch could be playing up. Its about £10 from Euro Car Parts. Does the car cut out randomly or is it only when accelerating?

it seems to be when im accelerating.For the sake of a tenner i think ill get a new ignition and see if that sorts the problem .Cheers
