Engine revving
« on: 13 March 2008, 11:23 »
I think this may be posted elsewhere, or at least a similar issue.

My 16v GTi rev's by itself sometimes when I come to a halt, also when tanking along it holds revs when I change gear!  I thought perhaps there could be a faulty idleing sensor until the revving while changing gear thing happened.

It's annoying the crap outta me!!

I'm pretty positive I'm not the only one to have had this so does anyone have any advice?

Thanks in advance

Andy

i had this on my 8v, i changed the ecu and fuel stop relays but that didn't cure it. it stopped when i changed the coolant temp sensor.

Ok sounds good, whereabouts is the sensor?  Easy to replace?

I recently had my 16vs sensor changed at a specialist, the part from vw was £26, they charged the same again to fit it.

i think cos its a 16v its the dealer only part, where as 8v ones are in euro parts etc for closer to a tenner.

but its stopped all the cutting out and spluttering problems/
