Alternator Allen Bolt '89 8v Gti
« on: 11 March 2008, 12:59 »
Has anybody else had the allen bolt head round on them?
The bolt that goes in through the timing belt cover & the end of the threads are just visable coming through the mounting bracket on the other side. Theres no room for vise grips to get at the head.
My only plan is to remove the pulleys/timing belt/covers & hope this gives access to the bolt head, seems a big job just to remove 1 bolt!
Any other ideas???

Thanks.

you can try and grind a slot into the head of the bolt and use a large flat bladed screw driver to get it out. i know what the access around that area is like so you maybe be better off getting the belts outa the way and then attack it.
