What else is on the list? I bet there's some stuff you can do yourself to save a wedge.

Unlucky mate. I dread Mot time because I have never had a car to go straight through an MOT

Maybe get a second opinion...  perhaps it can just be patched up?

As said above, a lot of stuff can probably be done yourself.

If you do spend £900 on it, thats money you'll never get back.... And it'll probably be virtually un-sellable for any good money if it needs that much work.

Spend the money on a welding course and an old banger to drive about in the meantime, until you get good enough to fix your motor up yourself?
Sold the VR6... Now officially An Old Man With A Passat Estate.  At least it's a 1.8T

the only car i've owned which went straight through was the daily golf 18 months ago, but a year later and i get 4 fails and 1 & 1/2 pages of advisories!!

I don't think a semi will give the same results

The front sub frame is shot to bits, has been welded a couple of times in the past.
As for doing it the work myself, the big stuff i'll leave to the garage, i struggle to find the time for work, study, family and car already so something has to give.

the whole car is getting a good inspection while it's on the lifts before anything gets done

thing is i bloody love the car and don't want to see it gone!!

if it were me, i'd be looking for a cheapo mk2 (stacks about) with a decent shell and everything, then slap your motor in which is reletivly straight forward, and salvage anything worth salvaging from the current car, and scrap it. would be much cheaper that way, get some money back on interior or stuff thats extra...

noble tuned - and still not fast enough!
