How do i tell whih engine code i have?

Hi, just wondering how do i tell what engine code i have in my golf gti mk3? also anybody have any reasoning to why my mileometer isnt showing a reading but the other stuff on the dash is working fine  cheers

Look in your boot. (When you get it open).

Under the carpet next to the spare wheel - there should be a label stuck to the body.

This label will tell you various things including paint code and engine code I think.

If its a 16v, Im pretty sure all 16v have ABF engines.

Could be wrong though.

16V are normally ABF as he said

the dash clocks are poor.. mine shows the mileage but 1 number isnt complete..and the ones before this showed the mileage as and when it wanted. time to replace the clocks
