i have just bought a mk2 gti 8v 91,i am over the moon with the car having always wanted one,the problems that i have are the rev counter does'nt work or the indication lamps(oil,alt,temp)can anyone help,i have tried removing fuse no 21 but it did not help,
           thanks for any help

clocks are a pain,and have many dif faults, my milages dont move,been on 121000 for 4 years...but every thing else fine, i sugest recon clocks or put up with it...There is a firm mentioned on here who can repair them @ a cost.

if you take the lower part of the dash off and look up behine the clocks you should see 2 long connector blocks
theses are for the led's and revcounter......

there may be a loose connection at theses


also when you pull them off, the little terminals which when the connectors blocks are cliped on touch the printed circuit board theses terminals sometimes snap off this happed on my early k jet gti! either go scrappers and cut the whole connector block out and aload of wire then if others break then there easy replaced as you have more....

.. i did get a new connector terminal but i didnt have the special crimper so i had to go scrappers and i pulled the whole connection block off and cut about 5" of wire with them i pulled the old terminal out

(you need a very fine screw driver to bend the little metal bit on top of the terminal) this metal bit stops the terminal sliding back out of the connector block.........

and slid my new one in and then used a crimp coinnector to connect the wire to the other wire......
