8v GTI Engine Cuts out whilst driving??!!! Please help :)

Hi Guys and Gals,

Tried my local garage and they havent got a scooby's 
So thought id get some ideas from people who have experience and knowledge about this beautiful underated machine 

Main Points.
Engine cuts out as its getting warm after about 5 minutes of driving. 
It wont start again unless cold or if left for a 30minutes ish and jumped 
The longer its left with no driving the worse the problem gets 
Engine always cuts at the warm up point sometimes it will lunge then carry on once the engine is hot then there are no issues at all 
Throttle recently Cleaned out

the mk3 i'm getting does this. runs for abit then cutts out. will start again after about 20 -30 mins when cooler. the guy i'm getting it off has tried ecu and fuel pump relays and coolant temp sensor. also he said the wires to the knock sensor are taped up. so when i get it, 'll try that
