1994 gti 8v - Clifford immobiliser question
« on: 05 March 2008, 11:04 »
Hello folks, am trying to ascertain the make and model of the immobiliser fitted to my 94 gti. It's the 'battery fob' type one that you touch on 2 terminals below the radio. I assume that this is the original system as the only other mk3 GTi I know has exactly the same set-up.

I phoned a local VW dealer, but as usual when a car is over a decade they don't know a thing about it. One guy did reckon that this system was a dealer fit rather than a factory fit and said it was made by Clifford.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as my insurance firm requires the information to validate my theft cover.

Many thanks, Mark (rupertfinch)

Could be a number of things! Clifford Intellikey had that type of remote as did most laserline alarms/immobilisers. might be an idea to google image search them both and see if you can spot it. :)

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08

and it wont be factory fit...as I've had a few gti's of various years and non have had a similar set up to yours but it maybe dealer fit! and it could take some tracing...
