Lock Set ?
« on: 16 February 2008, 12:26 »
Hey, my car was broken into a while ago, got it all fixed and its now on the road. Thing is i bought a cheap full lock set off of ebay and the quality isnt the best, the bloody handles flex when i pull them !!. Just wondering if anyone has purchased a full lock set from VW and how much it set them back, thats if you can still get them that is. Thanks

Not sure what the price of the full lock set is... think it comes with barrels, handles but gaskets are separate

The price of each handle though is 35 quids last time i checked!

I just bought a pair of door handles complete with their own locks and keys for about £9 each. But the lock are different though. Two sets of keys. A complete lock set can be bought from GSF for about £35, and the ignition switch is a right b@st@rd to change. Lock set from VW is about £80.

lock sets from gsf are absolute sh!te, the handles need adjusting weekly and the key on the back of the ignition barrel will wear away after a few months and wont engage the switch! if i were you i would get a set off a golf being broken or down the scrappy

Is it a central locking model? I have/had a couple of complete (or mostly complete I think one doesn't have the glove box) non-central locking lock sets, including handles, barrels, steering lock boot and fuel cap. In one of the the ignition barrel is still on the steering column, but will depend on your model if the ignition switch is the right one.

If your interested I'll check them out and maybe you can help me clear some space ;)
