Parallel Imports GTI
« on: 16 February 2008, 17:43 »
Can anyone help me out please with a query I have regarding parellel imports. A honda dealership near me is selling unregistered GTI's with 2 year VW warrenty for £18,500 (5 door, reflex silver, standard spec, but with cruise). The price seems to good to be true and I wondered if there is a catch i.e. bad resale price etc. I would welcome some feedback from anyone who has bought a car like this. Cheers.

There's plenty of happy GTi import owners on here

No real catch apart from the loss of the 3rd year warranty.

There's also lots of threads on what to watch out for when buying an import :

Just check out the above threads and make sure it is UK spec

I'm on my 2nd GTi MkV import and hav'nt had any problems or noticed any catches

Plenty of other sources of imports too, here's where my two were from  :

Good price, but you need to consider:-

No Leather (now standard on new UK cars)
No third year warranty
I don't think that you'll be able to take advantage of the £200, 3 year servicing deal.
Resale residuals.

Just to let you know I've just put a deposit on a new 3dr UK car from a VW stealer for only £19k ... including monza II's, arm rest and rear tints.

It's a car from stock so although it will be on a new 08 plate it won't have the leather that is now standard, brand new though, delivery miles.

A second local dealer would also offer a similar car from stock with less options. Worth a try at your local VW to see what they can get!

Can't wait to pick mine up
