1.6 need more power

Hey folks ive got a 1.6 mk2 currently with full stainless and weber carb , however ive got to take it off the road for a few months an i was thinkin of what i could do to it to try an gain some more power outta the old girl
Dont really wanna take the engine out was thinkin more head work than anythin else ! Just after some ideas or experience on that engine
Any ideas welcome what do ya reckon ?

GTI camshaft and time it to 6 degress btdc.  Ported and flowed head but that would cost a good bit more to do.

save up for a gti it really isnt worth it!
