timing prob
« on: 10 February 2008, 22:07 »
hi all, sorry if this sounds confusing, not very mechanically minded. changed the cam belt other week and the timing was well off. the distributer cap thing that u set it up with is jammed stiff! my neighbor helped me and he had to bang it round with screwdriver and big hammer to get it right. its better now but not spot on. if this makes sense to anybody can i get some advice how to losen it up please   :undecided:

common issue, what I did was to scrape out as much crap as possible from the notch around the base of the dizzy, then spray a ton of penatrating oil round it.  Then I clamped a pair o mole grips round it and tapped em with a hammer till it freed off :)
