Help needed re Trip Computer
« on: 06 February 2008, 16:05 »
I am looking at buying a 1994 mk3 golf gti 16v but it has a fault with the trip computer on the dash board.

The stalk flips through the options fine and they all display the correct info but it seems to switch on then off intermittantly, when both driving along and when stood still.

I am very keen on the golf and really want to buy it but need to know that this isnt a major fault or will be costly to repair.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

probably the switch

Ignition?

Maybe the screen is buggered, as they are commen to break, as the read out comes from the ECU if im right, and if thats turning of when u drive, your buggered. So i reckon its teh screen thats your problem.

No its going on and then off when stood still, and even when the engine isnt running, I thought it might have been a loose connection at the back but if its going to be more serious than that then I will probably leave it.
