RR .also looked at revo stage 1 265bhp,how does your car feel putting that power down.
....It's probably closer to 255 but I haven't rolling roaded her recently. I have driven a 275 bhp road 'n track GTI though and found no issues.
It's all a matter of how you use your right foot! I very very rarely stamp hard on it because it will of course induce wheelspin unless the road is bone dry and the tyres have loads of tread. I find that the torque plus gentle but progressive use of the accelerator gets the power down nice and smoothly. It's easy to get the feel and avoid wheelspin. On public roads I always drive with ESP On and that helps keep it all under control and in a straight line.
Quite honestly, much more power and you're too quickly into license losing territory! The chassis of the Mk5 GTI is well known as being excellent. Unexpectedly I found that my modded suspension helped grip slightly.
If you are seriously considering Revo I would start off with Stage1 and the switchable box, and if it's not fast enough for you you can pay just £50 and upgrade to Stage2, but you need other mods to get the full benefit of Stage2. If I drove more often than I do in Germany on the autobahns I'd be more interested in Stage2.
Something else which most drivers overlook is doing a CarLimits course on North Weald airfield where you learn the absolute limits of your car and what that feels like - Invaluable for learning where the edge is and keeping far enough away from it so not to fall over it!!
The other excellent course is a full day with Big John of Drivetrain on the roads of Oxfordshire - Quite an eye opener!! Remaps your brain! He's top notch and has trained blue light drivers and other instructors. The point is that you take what Big John teaches you into every car you drive.
