i'd say MK4 over the A3 for external looks.

not seen the inside of an A3 so can't comment on that, the only plus side on the A3 (for me) is they did a quattro derv

have you considered a Leon?

Will always love my mk4 but she had to go...225 Quattro TT in its place....but its still black (she lives on in spirit!)

The A3 1.8T will be cheaper to insure than the MK4 1.8T if that makes any diffrence.

I had this choice last year and went for the V6 4mo over the S3 (I needed the practicality of 5 doors).

 :smiley: Not regretted it since  :smiley:

It comes down to personal choice and how long your prepared to wait and pay for the ideal motor.

Leon is def worth looking at... (huge boot/Hugh Jazz!)
