MK5 MFD2 Retro Fit

Hi,

I'm new to this and have been looking at replacing my current RCD500 with the OEM navigation unit!
I've got an Edition 30 and when speccing it didn't fancy paying a crazy amount of money for the factory nav

I've had a look at the Kenwood DNX7200 and although it looks amazing I am worried about it being stolen so that's why I'm looking at the OEM

I've been searching through the forums and it seems for the money I want to spend I should be looking at the DVD MFD2 Level C

I've seen them on ebay and there is one that I am intrested in with the Unit, Antenna, Code and Disc

If I want to connect an MP3 player to it though what else do I need (I have just a standard MP3 player with the 3.5mm jack and not an ipod!!)

Is this everyting I will need or have I overlooked something?

I just want to get it right befroe I shell out the money

Any help would be much appreciated and just to say what a great forum this is

If im being honest mate I would not go for any of the MFD units, they are really poor, I had one in my last car and it was just a huge disappointment. Volkswagen have just released the RNS 510. This is the new version of the MFD, it has a touchscreen, 3d road maps and a 30gb hard drive, they may be a little more expensive than the MFD, around 1000GBP on ebay but trust me it will be worth it, plus you are keeping it OEM.

I would also suggest the RNS 510. Its more expensive but worth the money!!!
I retrofitted the CD based MFD2 in my GTI and i have to say it isnt the best thing but i wanted to keep it OEM.
