using a 1.8 starter on a 2.0
« on: 10 April 2008, 11:10 »
just wondering what fellow 2.016v converts are using for a starter motor. I have the 1.8 one on at the minute and i dont think its quite up to the job! it has been progressively getting harder to start in the mornings :angry: i think the problem is fuel related also, but the old starter doesnt seem to be enjoying it! its like it cant quite spin the engine quick enough :laugh:

what alternatives are there, does the abf/9a starter fit straight in?

silly question... have you cleaned/replaced the battery/earth cables?

this made a hell of a difference on my daily, new cable is thicker and turns over twice as quick  :cool:

I don't think a semi will give the same results

Look to your wiring!

It really shouldn't make that much difference!
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
