Wet Steering Wheel?

Hey peeps!

had a leak into my footwell but sorted that now, dried everything out and was happy. But now if i leave my car for a couple of days and then go for a drive, the steering wheel, gear knob and other interior parts are damp from condensation. All the windows are steaming up, even after appling RainX which is really getting on my tits 

I've checked around for other leaks but its all dry. Also if people aint noticed from my signature, the car is stripped out with just two seats so there are a few places where the cold air can get in, for example a hole in the boot floor.

i know all the original sound proofing and stuff really absorbs water well, so obviously the damp could be hiding in the stuff behind your dash...

also could be hiding in your roof lining or seats, basically anything that can absorb moisture...

if i were you i'd keep it in a garage with all the windows down and doors open for a few days and that might help, if not, start taking it apart looking for damp parts... especially the stuff behind your dash since its stripped so not much else could be holding it.

Where have you applied rainx??

rainx is for exterior use to repel rain/roadwater...

Check your doors. You might need to remove the door cards and reseal the plastic weather seal in there, or make new ones.
Also check that the scuttle panel is not full of crap, and the drain holes are clear.
Check the sunroof drain holes too.

i have read both articles posted above but everything seems to be fine the door cards are free from dampness but the seats i noticed this afternoon are gettin damp do you recon it'd be more worth my while putting everything back in (rear seats, carpet etc) and see if that solves the problem? i really dnt want to but gettin in car with everythin wet is become extremely frustrating

or just keep the motor in the garage for the winter months?

why not try and fill the holes where the damp is getting in? or are they drainage holes hehe?

best bet is to get the car completely dry is to take the seats out and dry them, then check all through the car for possible leak spots, then seats back in, and as long as you've elimnatied all damp spots then you should be ok... is there definetly not any puddled areas on teh floor pan of the car? have the seats been damp all the time that its been fogging up? you need to get the car completely bone dry, and also give the windows a good clean and polish ont eh insides, so that there is less crap for the moisture to stick too, and if it does fog up, the blowers will clear the screen alot lot faster.

the less thats in there the better, so wouldnt think puttin all the carpets and everything back in would help.

well its been foggin up since the water leak into the footwell but i sorted that a week or 2 ago..since then it still fogs up but its only been the past few days ive had the wet wheel and the seats being damp today i cnt understand how its gettin worse...

this weekend i will do exactly as you've said and post back. i hope that'll sort it all out. to be honest its just pure science init..condensation originates from water so if its completely dry inside i shoud be laughin. might leave a heater in the car or something over night in the garage obviously a heater with a thermosat lol

Putting a heater in the car wont cure a condensation problem mate it will just make the damp condense quicker and draw in more damp. Ventilation is the key and obviously trying to pinpoint where the moisture is getting in. No moisture= No condensation
