Uprated headlight loom problem.
« on: 29 November 2007, 20:57 »
OK, I have got an uprated headlamp loom for both sets of lamps and last night the fuse that controls the inner spots blew. I replaced it with another, only for it to blow agian.  :embarassed:

There are three relays in the loom, dipped, main beam and spots. Would a blown relay or bulb cause it to continue blowing fuses, or will I have to start checking the wires in the loom?

Anyone got any ideas?  :undecided:

Check what you've put in for shorts.

sounds more like a wire is shorting to earth, check the cables, make sure nowt has come loose etc.. I have had faulty relays b4, they simply don't pass the current, don't normally blow fuses

EDIT: mk2mark YOU BEAT ME TOO IT!

I never get too use my inner spots :( People keep flashing me to turn them off, but then without them, I can't see much! Going to order those H4's and H3's soon... can't stand it any longer >.<

Doing that loom looks too complicated for a dub newb like myself. I'd love to have a garage or drive way too have a proper look at the car without people staring at me as they walk past.

Well seems as your inner spots should only come on with your high beam and i can well imagine why people are flashing you!

Loom upgrade with decent bulbs will work wonders. H4 and H3 are just the names of the standard connector types. You just need to make sure you get a good bulb, 55Watt ones are the standard but you can get brighter ones although they are often marked as 'off road use only'. It's up to you as to how bright a bulb you feel you can get away with!

And careful when fitting them that you don't touch the glass of the bulb, the residue from your skin can cause them to blow for some reason.

Well yea, they would but some of them seem to have super bright lights anyway...

and you know I mean the Xenon H4 and H3s :p
Just ordered H4s Xenons from PowerBulbs Direct, but they don't list the wattage... I'm guessing 60/55w? As thats what the standard H4 Xenon seems to be.
