My Storie
« on: 30 November 2007, 11:00 »
Hi All

Well I'm new to the site. I decided to join after spending hours reading the forum boards.

Recently some mugess (instead of mug because she is female) decided to drive into the back of my beloved MK3 GTI.  Dented in the back left wheel arch and damaged the suspension. So i did what everyone does, asked her for her insurance papers which she was too happy to hand over.

The following day i called up my insurance and told them what happened. They got me a hire car ('07 Vauxhall Astra EEEWW!) and said they'd get back to me about my beloved golf.

I got a call on Tuesday saying they were going to write it off due to its age ('95) and mileage(124,000). I was shocked to say the least. Little did i know i was going to be more shocked when i heard what they were going to pay out....£600, yup thats it, £600!! i couldnt believe it and after a lengthy discussion, well it was more a screaming match from my side of the phone, i decided to accept defeat and move on.

I jumped on to Autotrader and started the search for a replacement.  I decided not to go for an older model again as this just seems to cause problems when you're involved in an accident.

I'm pleased to say that Sunday i will be collecting my new GTI.  2001 MK4 1.8t 3 door in fantastic reflex silver. 69,000 on the clock.

Anyway, as a newbie i thought i might share my little story with you all instead of just saying "hi".

Where can i find up coming events?

Thanks
Vince

Welcome mate.

Insurance companies will always take the easy option and write off!
600 quid is way too cheap! But hey too late now.
