world of warcraft took over my life for a while lol but i managed to break the addiction ....phew

anyway i need some help
my mk3 8v gti has decided to become a cold start nightmare and i need some advice with getting the little mofo sorted
here's the problem
during the summer i pulled up outside the local shops and was maneuvering in to a parking space when the car just died
with a massive ? above my head i restart and it stalled again
turns out it wouldnt tick over without constant massage to the excelerator peddle
once i got home i called one of my dip sh!t m8's (who thinks he's a machanic) and asked him to have a look
he arrived with carb cleaner in hand and proceeded to remove the air inlet hose from the injector manifold and spray it in
this fixed the zero tick over capabilities but it was ticking over too high


anyway now in the mornings the car won't tick over from cold until warm (is this a progressor problem?

)
but i also noticed that where the accelerator cable connects to the injector manifold, the central rod with the exagerated keyhole shape is moving backwards and forwards as if it hasnt reset correctly or is jammed
should i just take it to vw and ask them to do a engine managment check
oh and sorry for the long winded "once upon a time"
any help you guys can give would be really appreciated, i mean i'm not gonna send money out or anything but you could be happy knowing that you've helped a fellow dubber out

oh and i have a loss of instant acceleration it kind stammers and then blasts off sometimes it feels like its being held back ...if you know what i mean
all hoses have been checked as i know these poxy engine have a dependency on air pressure
but i did notice yesterday that when i take the oil filler cap off when its ticking over, it stalls ( is that normal)
